We've covered various works by Charlie Loane (piglet, Great Dad) and Caitlin Power (Paddywak, Birthday Girl) - the talented twosome at the helm of brand new project Speed Training, so we were thrilled to stumble across their collaborative new outing. Screeching into the realm of released music, 'Hot Wheels (On The Race Track)' is a bold introduction to the new band. Pop sensibility sits at the heart of 'Hot Wheels', with catchy melodies leading the off-kilter duet and candid lyrics. Sonically saturated with lo-fi synthesizers, electronically-generated brass sounds, gritty guitars and an abundance of unexpected sound effects, including the metallic slashing of swords, Speedy Training's distinctively eclectic sound sets them apart from anything else we've heard recently, or ever to be truthful. -Holly Mullineaux
